The Lotus-effect

As the leaf of a Lotus flower can protect itself from pollution, surfaces can gain the liability to clearly diminish soiling with the Lotus-principle^®, a protection layer as thin as a nanometer. The treated surface features a high scratch and abrasion resistant layer, stays transparent and is easy to clean. In many cases cleaning with clear water is sufficient, since water molecules are significantly smaller than dirt particles that can then be removed automatically. Cleaning with conventional cleaning-products does not harm the protection layer, this guaranties protection over several months.
